Wolterton & Mannington Estate
2013
Party Visits
Whether your group spends the whole day, or just an hour on the Estate,
Lord and Lady Walpole hope you will have an enjoyable and memorable visit.
Mannington Gardens
The extensive and varied gardens display all-year-round colour, and surround the medieval moated manor house. There is an outstanding rose collection, including the Heritage Rose Gardens in the old walled garden and orchard. Wildflowers are encouraged around the lakes and ruined church. Unusual trees and shrubs are featured throughout.
Wolterton Hall and Park
There is a beautiful Park, including adventure playground, orienteering course and a large lake around the Eighteenth Century mansion house. The State Rooms, still with many original features, hold a remarkable collection of family portraits and other treasures.
The countryside surrounding the two Halls, which are about 2 miles apart, has way-marked footpaths with interesting wildlife.
Catering
The Greedy Goose runs the Tearooms at Mannington. Talented chef Helen provides an interesting range of locally sourced food with seating for 50-60 people. She serves ploughman’s lunches with local cheeses and homemade chutneys, tea, coffee, cakes and other light refreshments.
Please pre-order your catering requirements to ensure we can meet your needs. Other meals available by specific request.
The Information Centre at Mannington sells chilled drinks and snacks.
Special arrangements can be made to provide most catering requirements at either venue.
Shops
At Mannington, the Information Centre has maps and trail guides on sale, along with a selection of gifts, souvenirs, books, container-grown roses and other plants.
Less Able Visitors
At Mannington, most of the gardens are accessible by wheelchair and there are seats at regular intervals. A Boardwalk through a meadow provides access to the countryside and our wheelchair-accessible bird hide. Access to the Halls can be difficult, but there is now a stairlift at Wolterton Hall. There are adapted toilets at both venues. Please contact us for further details.

Tours with Lord and Lady Walpole and the Countryside Warden can be arranged all year round, during the daytime and in the evenings. We cater for all age groups. Specialist themed tours, such as the family history, portraits, textiles and natural history can be arranged with prices from £15.00.
